Cinema

I love watching old musicals, but my husband doesn't really enjoy them. He says you can always tell when they're about to burst into song! So in the spirit of moving watching in our house, I made this tag. I used a picture of Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney that I found on the internet- I love that in their films putting on a show was the answer to everything! We need to save the farm? Let's put on a show! The orphanage is closing? Let's put on a show!
I tried to make my tag like an old cinema, with luxurious curtains, and gold braid. I drew two people as sillohuettes but they don't show up as much as I hoped. I created a speech bubble using tippex, and added the words 'I bet they put on a show!' I scanned my tag, but the braid has made the image a bit fuzzy!

I feel a song coming on!

I always love to read everyone's comments, so this week, please add your favourite film! Mine changes regularly, but I love Little Women (the 1949 MGM version) and Monsters Inc.

  1. I love the idea behind this tag and the fabric and the braid sum up the feeling of an old cinema. My favourite films are Thelma and Louise and Finding Nemo.

  3. Your tag is gorgeous and plush just like the (not so comfy ... been around awhile) red velvet seats in my local cinema :o)

I love all those old movies you mention. My Mum loved Doris Day films and I loved Elvis films, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and so many more. My favourites though are the old black and white English comedies such as George Formby, Will Hay and the Carry On films

More recently, my all time favourite is "You've Got Mail"

    Bye for now xx

  4. Great tag. I have so many old film faves, it's hard to make a list, but 'Dumbo the Flying Elephant' was the first film I ever saw when I was very small, and it was such a great experience! Valerie

  6. What a great tag. Like Carolyn, our local cinema also still has the old 'plush' seats. I'm sure I got stabbed with a horse hair last time I was there, haha.
I love so many films, including musicals, so I agree with Diane about that being the answer to more of life's problems. People would be happier too I'm sure - always having something fun to look forward to watching and/or joining in with. But as my tag shows, Harvey, is up there at the top for me along with Casablanca, Gone With The Wind, It's A Wonderful Life, High Noon, How The West Was Won - I best shush now :0) x

  16. Hmmm I may be a while - favourite film........I think that when I go to the cinema it is to see a movie that looks best on a huge screen so something epic....like Avatar, Transformers or from the past Towering Inferno or Jaws. So many fab movies! I used to love watching Shirley Temple films as a child. Your tag is fab. I bet your hubby chuckled :-)

  17. Yes, they put on shows, but I still watched and enjoyed Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland movies very much and love your tag. I used to be in love with Cary Grant, so any movies starring him when I was younger. Now I love movies with more of a social conscience... loved "the Help" recently.
