Table Games

I have fond childhood memories of playing table games, which include evenings of Monopoly with my now deceased father.  My family still loves to play table games during gatherings, especially after big dinners.  Most of us like to tell stories and laugh as we play along, but there are a couple that take the competitive aspect quite seriously - LOL!

There are several games that we like to play, but decided to design a lotería tag, with Yahtzee, Dominoes, Scrabble, and Poker elements.  On July 31, I illustrated a lotería tag inspired by "La Sirena," the mermaid card.  For this post, I illustrated "La Bota," the boot card.  I began by covering a tag with one of my used Yahtzee score sheets and distressing it.  Then, I stamped a royal flush image on the bottom of the tag using a red stamp pad.  I illustrated a "vaquero" (cowboy) boot with micron pens over the latter.  Next, I glued a vintage double-two domino to represent the card's number, which is "22."  I used a Scrabble tile of the letter "B" as part of the title of the card.  As a finishing touch, I added a strip of black lace, red baker's twine, red beads, and a Tim Holtz hinge clip to the top of the tag.

I have been a little stressed, because I moved my oldest daughter into her first apartment during the weekend and also started working at school this week.  Therefore, it was truly relaxing to work on this playful tag.  Thank you for your thoughtful comments regarding my tag last week.  I had a blast looking at all your creative tags too.  Blessings!

  1. Lovely tag, good idea using the Yahtzee sheet as background. I know what the first week of school is like, I am happy now to be retired after 35 years of teaching! Valerie

  2. Lots of great ideas on this tag Arnoldo and 'La Bota' is beautiful. Isn't it lovely to play games as a family - with all the familiarity and fun of it all and not forgetting the usual teasing of those who take it too seriously, lol.
    Have a great week :0)

  3. Beautiful illustration Arnold. I love that you have preserved an actual scorecard when making your tag. Good luck to your eldest daughter in her new place. I know from your writing Arnold she will always know where home is.

  10. Scrabble, monopoly, cards, kerplunk and jigsaws were our family games Arnoldo. We've still got our scrabble. Now a days I play it online with my sister who is 200 miles away from me. I would rather be playing it round the table with her though. Well done on your tag.
