Autumn Fruits and Berries

Well peeps, would you ever have had hysterical larfing fits if you could have seen the fuffing about I did to produce this one! First I started with a needle embellished piece of felt for the background, OUT went that one as it looked too dense. Then I picked blackberry leaves and dried them with my micro-fleur but they were too brittle and fell apart so OUT went them. Then I die cut a branch and it looked too spindly for my berries so OUT went them! In the end I managed to produce this.

I took a page of a written diary that was a book from a second hand shop that was falling apart and chose a September entry. I sloshed picket fence distress dabber over it to tone it down and then darkened the edges with walnut stain ink. I  made the small branches by winding various brown yarns around a pipe cleaner and then bent it into shape. The leaves were die cut from Kraft core and bent and curled and sanded into submission. The little needle felted blackberries were done in various colours of  roving and have little seed beads for extra dimension.
Off now to enjoy your Autumn harvest of berries and fruit, all non-fattening too! X

  5. Your sprig of berries is beautiful Barb. Your post made me chuckle - I recognise all those predicaments - but the sign of a top notch crafter is to turn a negative into a positive and you have definitely done that. Gorgeous tag!

  8. This really does depict Autumn for me. I can imagine these lush berries sitting nestled in a bush, stiffened by frost but the colours driving away any hint of Autumnal gloom. Love it! :0)
