Fall Leaves, Acorns and Conkers

Okay, all you fine British artists, thanks to you, I now know what a conker is! That's not a familiar term in the US!
Fall brings us the most beautiful palette of colors. The reds, golds, oranges, and olive hues that contrast so brilliantly against that bright blue sky seem to reflect the powerful shift from the sky, sea and floral tones of summer. That the death of her fauna and hibernation of Mother Earth is painted so intensely stuns us, preparing us for the subtle cool tones of winter.
Fall is fun!
Remember the days of our childhoods, collecting leaves and pressing them in waxed paper? Picking apples, carving pumpkins, hay rides and best of all, Daddy raking up the leaves in a big pile while we waited impatiently to run and take a giant leap into the pile, throwing huge handfuls of leaves over our heads and at each other.

My tag is a tribute to that childhood memory. It is deliberately simple: the leaves look like the oneswe cut out in school, the felt I used are the colors of school construction paper. the burlap string spirals like falling leaves. Look carefully and you'll see that the leaves are caught in the green tines of the rake in your Dad's garage.
The tiny tag has William Cullen Bryant's quote, "Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile!"
