Brown or Sepia

Hi Everyone

What a starlit group of tags there were last week. Perfectly heavenly! Thank you for all your lovely comments on my twinkly tag. I can't wait to see what you've all done for this week; because I didn't have a clue! What I came up with was an accident, but also an experiment.

First I decided I would dye some card with tea. When it was still wet I looked up and saw some mushroom peelings so I decided, (don't know why), to stick them on top of the card too, to see what would happen, if anything. They just stuck there.....
So did I.......
What to do next?........After a few days of brain ache I decided I would try to add some more texture so I used an embossing folder and tool and added the wavy lines, (not very clear in the pic I'm afraid). Then I wondered if I could stencil something onto it. Using a mini punch I made a stencil with an old envelope, and coloured through it with Walnut Pro-Marker. A couple of bits of the mushroom began to peel away so I sprayed it all with hairspray. Left it to dry then edged all round with Antique Linen DI. I felt it looked a bit boring but wondered if some Crackle Accents would make the tea staining run or damage the pro-marker ink in some way, so I took a photo at that point in-case it went awry. It didn't; dried nice and crackled and the mushroom peel should now stay put. YaY!  The tie is coloured with the same Walnut Pro-marker.

Thank you for looking, and if you have any ideas to improve on the processes I used, I would be most grateful. Love n hugs, Mo, :0))

  1. Mo - love how you experiment all the time to see how things will work - great little tag for this month's theme. I'm probably not the right person to ask about your technique as I am a very boring "basics" gal LOL...

  2. No good asking the Doodly Bird woman either. You are inspirational Mo in how you have a go at so many techniques and with good results.

  3. I love it Mo! The overall effect is great and the mushroom bits look like strips of bark to me - I'd never have known they were mushroom if you hadn't said! A very clever idea and successful experiment - brilliant!

  8. Great use of kitchen bits and bobs! It's a shame this week's theme isn't purple as we're making red cabbage and beet root salad at school, and I could have used that!
