Music

Here's my music tag! My first experiences of music were on vinyl, so I've made an album, complete with cover! The record is made from craft foam, and although you can't see it in the photos,it has got grooves in it. I was going to just stop there, but the thing I really loved about LPs was looking at the cover art. You just can't appreciate it these days when you have a tiny thumbnail on your MP3 player. So I made a cover, with a rather feeble tribute to the incredibly talented Roger Dean, who did lots of album covers for Yes and Asia among others. He does these amazing fantasy landscapes so I've tried using sharpie markers and lots of bright colours.
The other thing I loved about LPs was reading the lyrics on the inner sleeve (or in Smash Hits magazine!) and the lyrics are probably still the most important part of a song for me.

  4. Fantastic tag - what a clever and unusual idea. It was a big event whenever I purchased an album as a teenager - there was something wonderful about the big glossy cover and some of them even opened like books - it's just not the same with CD's and downloads! Aah - happy memories!!!

  5. I love it! I have fond memories of an avocado green portable record player that I got for Christmas when I was a kid, and still have some of the records I played back then. Blessings!

  6. I love this idea Jo. The record is so cute too. You have bought back happy memories of nipping to Woolworths at the weekend to buy the latest singles. You don't have to leave your chair to do that these days!!!
