Letter A

Hi everyone, eyes down we are in for a year of wonderful sharing! I decided that I would base my alphabet tags around the uses of herbs, essential oils and spices. I am a holistic therapist and love using natural remedies to keep well and have many potions and bottles in my cupboards. To start with I have chosen Anise which is a spice with a lovely licorice aroma and taste.

007
It is used in aniseed balls and black jelly beans (my favourite) and as an essential oil is very good for colds and coughs and muscle aches and rheumatism, but should be used with caution. Forgive me I feel I must say never treat yourself as these oils can be quite strong and should be used in the correct doses especially if skin is sensative and should never be used internally. I'm a worrier you see! My tag base was covered in hessian and then the A's die cut. I made the jar by stamping on acetate and putting over some punched out brown circles for the aniseed balls. The bottle was stamped in the same way and I found a cough syrup advert and a little anise seed jar in an old book. I put a star anise at the top from my spice collection but it is not strictly the same as anise although has a similar flavour and some similar properties. I made the bottle look as if it had cough medicine in by colouring the back with alcohol ink. I embossed a list and started to add some descriptions.
I can see a danger here, I am so passionate about this subject I shall have to make sure my posts don't bore you all! I shall be off now and enjoy looking at all your A's! x
