Letter G

G is for Grevillea ... This is my personal favourite in our garden - Grevillea 'Robyn Gordon' . It is a wonderful spreading shrub with pendant sprays of spectacular red flowers all  year round.  This hybrid plant was  named by David Gordon for a family member who tragically died aged 16 in 1969.
My tag is fabric. The watermark is made by a Robyn Gordon flower stem, crushed onto the fabric, then coloured with permanent markers, softened with alcohol, and then top stitched on the machine.
I hope you won't mind if I also sneak in my F tag from last week... Ficus macrophylla - Moreton Bay Fig , best known for its buttress roots. The photo doesn't show very well that I have padded some of the roots using the technique of  trapunto quilting. The fabric was a previously dyed, then I made a stencil  cut  from freezer paper and applied decolourant and stitched the outline. Hoping I can improve my form and make the H tag earlier in the week....

  9. Ooh, I nearly missed this - I thought I'd done all the G's! So glad I didn't though - it's stunning. I love your techniques, they give such depth to the flower. The colours are beautiful too.
Great F tag too, and once again, fab techniques you're using. I'm looking forward to your choice of plant for next week!
