O is for.....

I cannot believe how one weeks holiday has put me so behind! I intended to have this tag made and published by last week but work went demented and then I had a busy weekend with No 2 daughter and her lovely hubby and my grandson, so here I am scraping in again! I will comment on all your lovely work this evening when I have finished work and will try and get my P tag out a bit earlier!
I have chosen Orange for this weeks essential oil. It is a very versatile oil and has been long held as a symbol of innocence and fertility. (Bit of an opposing quality that isn't it?) It spreads sunshine on gloomy thoughts, and can calm butterflies in the stomach. Also promotes the stimulation of bile which helps digestion of fats, however can stimulate the appetite so not good if you are dieting! Has a good effect on colds as it helps the absorption of Vitamin C and is good for the formation of collagen, vital for growth and repair of body tissues. It has a sweating action on skin  so speeds out toxins but also has a beneficial  effect on dry skin and wrinkles, and is an all round skin tonic. Lovely in a room vapouriser, makes me think of Christmas!

Sorry, simples tag due to time pressure! I found a picture of Nell Gwynne, the orange girl at Drury Lane that caught the eye of Charles 11 and became one of his many mistresses. Here she is with a basket made from scrim filledwith punched oranges and some ink sprayed cotton wool balls. I dyed the lace at the bottom the appropriate colour and found a tile inchie which I stamped with the word orange. I promise to try harder for next week honest. Love to you all x
