Letter S

S is for Syzygium ... In my series of Australian plants, this tag is my interpretation of Syzygium smithii which is better known here in Australia as the Common Lilly Pilly. We have one of these Lilly Pilly trees in our garden, an evergreen native small tree with pink/mauve edible berries (mostly used for making jam) . The photo shows some branches from the real tree too, but the berries are well past their prime and have lost of a lot of their colour. The fabric base of the tag is an Aboriginal design called Yalke, after a wild onion plant which is also bush tucker. The leaves are a purchased braid and I made the little berries from polymer clay.
Ooh , it's great to be back with Tag Tuesday ...

  1. BEAUTIFUL!!! I love how realistic your design is, and the colours are gorgeous. Awesome background fabric, and picking out the letter S like that is so clever. The name Common Lilly Pilly made me giggle though, sounds really funny to me.
