Letter X

X......is for Xylography.

Before there were all those rubber stamps we love to use today, there was xylography - an artistic technique of carving a wooden block into an image used for relief printing. Vincent Van Gogh, Eric Slater, Gustave Baumann, and many other well known artists used this ancient art form first created in China.
This is my first tag for Tag Tuesday! I'm having so much fun and want to thank all of you for this opportunity!

  1. Hi Cissy,
Very nice tag and thanks for the education. I didn't know wood block printing was called "xylography." I grew up in Lenoir City Tennessee and went to UT Knoxville. I've never heard of Michie. Where is that?
Welcome to Tag Tuesday--so much fun!
