The Roaring Twenties

Hi everybody!
It was good to see so many people joining in the challenges the past few weeks, hope it keeps that way!
The roaring twenties always brings to mind the pictures of the flapper girls, feather boas and suavely dressed men in elegant cars, although for many in Europe and from the end of the decade in America it was a time of grinding poverty after the First World War, when those with no  money fought to exist.

My tag shows the other side, I just wanted to remind us that not everybody was part of this superficial glamour world.

I have used an image from gecko Galz, a pink feather (so hard to stick down!) and some beaded fringing over some long fringes from an old stole.
Have a good week you all, take care, and thanks for looking!
Valerie

  1. A great photo reminder. And you know I love that Gecko Galz image. I used it recently. Thinking which image I want to use this time around.

Lovely tag Val, thought I would find you here today. I remember my gran telling her poor many people were back then, and never having enough to eat. Hugs, Sarah

  6. Lovely colours for your glam girls. Good idea to show the other side, that period was no fun for many people, but that was the point of dancing and having parties to keep their cares away.

  7. It is so true--the extreme poverty coexisting with the glamorous elite. Your tag is so luscious, and the feathers are perfect.

  8. In the USA, the depression came after the stock market crash in 1929. Just a little history lesson.
    Beautiful Tag non-the-less.

  13. Love the image and colors of this tag. So glad you posted the picture of the other side of that time--I toyed with it as my theme but thought it would make a morose tag. :-) My grandparents were poor Scots-Irish farmers with 10 children living in the mountains of Kentucky, and life in the twenties was exhausting, difficult, and often very sad. Friends, family, and church brought times of fun brought periodic relief from the tedium.
