Egypt

Egypt had me a little nonplussed but then I gathered together what I knew about Egypt.
What kept coming into my consciousness was the terrible trouble and unrest that there currently is in Egypt.
There is an interesting article HERE

The loss of precious antiquities and artefacts, the wholesale looting and destruction is deplorable. Much that has not been destroyed is still in a perilous situation as the custodians and carers cannot undertake the vital preservation of fragile artefacts.

We are all the losers as so much is destroyed! A quick search of the internet will sadden you as thousands of years of history are being obliterated.

My tag is a trio of handmade paper envelopes which have images from a contemporary Egyptian artist inside.
Ancient  images, maps and mail art stamps decorate the envelopes. The tags are recycled product tags and the fibre which keeps it together is a reminder of how important Egypt was in the development of paper, writing and the making of early fabrics.

Let us hope that diplomacy, common sense and goodwill will inspire a peaceful solution. Quickly!
Julie

  1. I love it when art is used to promote and/or make people aware of issues. Yours is an excellent example. Blessings!
