Egypt

Hi everyone. I have been visiting my sister for a week and so have only just got back to the craftroom where I wondered how I was going to do this weeks challenge. I thought I did not have anything that I could use. After a frenzied ferret around I found some prints of Egyptian wall paintings I forgot I had and an old photograph of some intrepid explorers!

I decided to use the print at the back of the tag and then rip the middle out of a second tag as if the wall of the tomb had been pulled down to reveal the first sight of the treasures within, and used sticky fixers to lift it from the background. I used distress inks and some pieces of plastic as stencils to make it look as if the wall was crumbling away and then darkened the edges. I cut around the old photograph of the explorers on their camels and sticky fixed them to the front. The little picture tags hung from the top were a sheet of toppers someone gave me that I thought I would never use and I made them look aged by rubbing walnut stain over the top which did not affect the gold edging. Just goes to show that this challenge helps you find stash you thought you never had!
I shall look and comment on your lovely Egyptian treasures when I have caught up with the dreaded H word. Thank you for your comments on mine last week, you are all a great gang to belong to!
Have a good week. X

  2. The feeling of deterioration you gave to your faux wall is brilliantly executed. It's funny how these weekly challenges help us remember our hidden treasures and stretch us to think of creative ways to express our selves. Blessings!
