Eyes

One of the first songs that came to mind when I saw this week's theme, is the 1984 R&B song, "Somebody's Watching Me," by Rockwell.  It is a whimsical song with a catchy tune, and if you're familiar with it, it's probably already stuck in your head as you're reading this post.  LOL!  Although the song made references to being paranoid, haunted, or stalked, I decided to take a more serious approach to the theme.  My inspiration came from 2 Chronicles 16:9, which reads, " For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him."

The "Eye of Providence" or "All-Seeing Eye of God" is usually illustrated within a triangle, as seen on the back of the USA dollar bill.  However, I decided to use the Tim Holtz arch frame and sized arches to cut my tag base, because they resemble the shape of a church window.  I also used Tim's rays embossing folder to create the feeling of glory around the eye.  I colorized the latter with acrylic paints and ink pads.  I illustrated the eye using micron pens and Prismacolor watercolor pencils.  As an embellishment, I added some mulberry flowers with some beads to form the pistil.  As a finishing touch, I threaded a pink suede lace as a topper.  You can't see it in the photograph, but I also attached Tim's easel to the back, so it can be displayed freestanding.

I want to take this opportunity to let you know how grateful I am to be a part of such a talented and gracious group of artists.  Your "Swinging Sixties" tags were very "groovy," and the comments you left on my tag were very thoughtful.  Blessings!
