Eyes

Hi everyone,

Just the one eye from me ... but two tags, because I had last week's to catch up on :o)
I've had a lot of problems with my back the last couple of weeks, which means that I haven't been able to sit at my workdesk for any length of time - most frustrating. Also I think my mind may be a little fuzzy due to the painkillers .... what was I saying ... ?!

So, these tags are most definitely NOT my greatest works, but hey - they took my mind off my back for half an hour so I call that therapy! Just don't look too closely :o)

Here's this week's offering ...

Literally a 10-minute job, this one - hand cut the keyhole shape from woodgrain-patterned paper, add an eye cut from a magazine to black cardstock die cut shape, stick the two together with foam tape for depth, add scrabble tiles and dictionary definitions, scribble around everything, punch a hole and thread through an old bootlace - DONE! Here's a close-up of the definitions (sorry, they're a bit fuzzy, like my head) ...

And now for my catch-up tag from last week - the Swinging Sixties. I have such vivid memories of my childhood in London in the Sixties, so I was full of ideas for my tag - psychedelic brights, Biba mauves and purples, bold black and white; crazy florals, geometric patterns, paisley prints, ethnic-inspired motifs; mini skirts, maxi dresses, kinky boots; words like "groovy", "way out" and "zany"; mods, rockers, hippies, beatniks; Petula Clark,The Beatles, Ella Fitzgerald, Janis Joplin, The Kinks, Joan Baez, real Jamaican reggae on proper records .... I could go on and on.

Unfortunately, all my big ideas went out of the window because I just couldn't get focussed or sit still for long enough - I just made a sort of tie-die effect background with alcohol inks, stamped some paisley motifs over that, added some groovy flowers, a record made of sheet vinyl, a smiley button, some beads and bells and finished with a rainbow ribbon. The little almost yin-yang symbol you can see was actually supposed to be a "60" in that fat lettering style which used to be so popular then - I made it with shrink plastic and was planning to add several "swinging sixties" to the bottom of the tag, but it just wouldn't come out right so I went all pathetic and gave up.

Carolyn's themes are so inspiring - I hope to be able to do the next one justice! For now, I'm going to settle for checking out what everyone else has been up to - it never fails to amaze and inspire me to see all the different takes on a theme.

Thanks for looking and cheerio for now

Annie :o)xxx

  13. Both tags are great. There is certainly a air of mystery about the eye on a keyhole.
