Winter Landscape

Happy 7th Day of Christmas!  Hope your holidays have been filled with hope, peace, joy and love as 2013 comes to an end.  I feel extremely blessed to say my holidays were simple, but very memorable.

© Arnoldo L. Romero 2013
For my winter landscape tag, I created an abstract design in which I incorporated the colors of the semi-desertic region in which I live.  (FYI - In over 14 years my family and I have lived in Del Rio, Texas, it's only snowed twice and it didn't last long.)  I cut strips of 3 different Gelli prints I made and arranged them on my tag to form the background.  Next, I distressed the tag's edges to add some interest.  Then, I embellished it with snowflakes cut with Tim Holtz dies and vintage buttons from my wife's late maternal grandmother's collection.  As a finishing touch, I used a strip of Martha Stewart's snowflake print washi tape, a stapled banner with a hand lettered sentiment, and a simple white bow as a topper.  Since the tag was a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law, I created a matching 2-pocket envelope out of kraft paper to enclose a gift certificate.

In closing, I want to thank Carolyn S, Carolyn H, Mo and Valerie for their diligent administration of Tag Tuesday; the players for sharing their artful tags; and everyone who left encouraging comments on my posts throughout the year.  I feel blessed to be a part of such a talented team.  Happy New Year!

  11. I love the story behind your very clever tag, it is difficult for us in Europe to picture a winter without snow. The strong colours surrounding you must be such an inspiration to you.
