Myths and Legends

Myths and Legends - endless possibilities, yet challenging ! The tags I have seen this week are really beautiful! Here is another tag  I have made from tea bag stained canvas. Blue? This comes from cranberry tea. I had a little piece of canvas left with three blue prominent blobs from resting tea bags on the canvas . The blobs  reminded me of one of my favourite places in NSW (Australia) - the Blue Mountains, and the iconic Three Sisters, three prominent rocky pinnacles on the edge of an escarpment at Echo Point. According to a commonly told Aboriginal legend, the three sandstone peaks in the Blue Mountains were once three beautiful sisters who fell in love  with brothers from another tribe They were forbidden to marry under strict tribal laws, but the brothers would not accept this. Battle between the tribes broke out. To protect the sisters, a tribal elder turned them into stone. Unfortunately he was killed in the battle, and no one was able to reverse his spell. There is now some speculation whether this was really an Aboriginal legend. It is now suggested that someone fabricated this story to increase tourism to the area in the  1920's. Anyway, I like the story whether it is authentic or not.

  11. A lovely tag Wilma. I used to live at the base of the Blue mountains & visited the Three Sisters a bit. I remember climbing them once & getting stuck as I was affraid of hights & made the mistake of looking down. I had a rescue team come in to sedate me so that they could get me off the ladder. Quite scary>
