The 1950's

Hi Everyone

Thanks for the warm welcome.  Hmmm...  being a 60's baby boomer and not having lived through the 50's made it difficult to decide what I wanted to say about it with my art.  Probably the thing that always pops into my head when I think of the 50's is the austerity of the era especially in the earlier half.  Rationing was still happening in the UK even though the war had been over for nearly a decade.  It makes us appreciate all the wonderful things we have today perhaps.

Anyway to interpret this austerity I felt doing something in a semi-grunge style might be appropriate.  Using design images from the era, parcel paper, string and lots of acrylic and ink distressing seemed to suit the passage of time.

I added a Tag on Tag as I am away for next week's challenge and I liked the idea of trying that one out.  I really enjoyed exploring the 50's.  Thanks for the challenge.

  3. I love the historical significance of your tag. Interesting in that when I made mine I thought of the post-war boom in the USA--although there always is another side to the story.....
