I Remember When

I remember when we lived "in town" before moving to the farm, where I spent the rest of my years until leaving for college.  My father was a high school teacher; he and my mother both loved to fish. This photo was taken sometime in the 1940's.  My father looks quite dapper for someone who has been fishing...maybe early in the morning before school!

I scanned this great photo of my dad from one my mother had.  He died at 65 and my mother spent the next 34 years as a widow.  Only months after her death, the unoccupied family home burned, destroying hundreds of photos Mother kept in various boxes.   To make the tag, I covered a #8 manila tag with the striped paper, added a sepia-toned copy of the photo and embellished it with a Tim Holtz metal tag and a stamped "Remember."  (Two years ago, I made bookmarks of this photo for my two brothers.)

  1. A beautiful tag with lots of memories, I am glad you still have this one - how awful that so much was destroyed. Hugs, Valerie

  7. Lovely tag Evelyn! The photo of your dad is great! So sorry about the fire and the photos! My family home flooded and about 95% of our family photos were ruined. Everything else can go, but when family photos are ruined, it's heartbreaking.

This photo would be even more precious for you after the tragedy of losing so many photos from the past.
