Snowflakes

Icy Snowflakes
Happy New Year, tag friends!  We still have holiday company so I'm a bit late getting this done.  I started with a 3x6.5 embossable aluminum tag which I ran through my machine with a snowflake embossing folder.  Then I used two little snowflake dies (Tim's movers and shapers) and punched out two shapes in the middle of the tag (which later got glued to the top).  The movers and shapers can cut through thick stuff and these tags are thick.  Then I used my go-to winter technique - deco art crackle glaze over the whole thing (i used a kitchen spatula to spread it).  Since the crackle was pretty thick in the flake holes it took a while to dry.  After that it was a coat of patina green antiquing creme.  After that dried I wiped it with a damp paper towel until it was mostly only in the cracks.  Then finishing touches of stickles and stick-on rhinestones and some purple highlights with a copic pen.

I've decided that if I do this technique again I'll put a piece of clear packing tape on the back over the snowflake holes before I spread the crackle glaze since it can get kind of fragile.  But all in all it turned out pretty nice!  Here are a couple of detail pictures:

Everyone's snowflakes look lovely!  I hope you are all having great and crafty holidays!
