Capital Cities

With so many wondrous capital cities around the world to choose from and no extra time to work on more than one tag, I had a difficult time making a choice.  Since I just purchased the Tim Holtz British embossing folder set during my Christmas visit to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, I decided to go with London.  However, with so many fascinating places to visit in London and not having any other ready made thematic tools to use, I had many more decisions to make - LOL!

Anyway, I decided to go with Buckingham Palace, because I could re-design the Tim Holtz Toy Soldier's uniform to simulate a guard's uniform.  It was a little time consuming, but I had fun working on it and am happy with the results.  I also used a Hobby Lobby crown stamp to create a representation of the Queen's crown.  Then, I embossed the tag with the Union Jack folder, which I had pre-colorized.  I distressed the tag, and stapled a scrap of a London map print that I found in my paper stash.  Except for the Tim Holtz "№ 1" rub-on, I used my humble calligraphic skills to add part of the palace's address and to spell "London" on a label.  Next, I used foam squares to attach the guard and the crown.  As a finishing touch, I added a Tim Holtz washi tape hand pointer and a blue satin ribbon topper.

I'd love to work on tags for other capital cities, such as Madrid, Paris, Mexico City, and Washington DC, since they represent my heritage.  Therefore, I hope we will revisit this theme in the near future.  I can't wait to see what everyone else did, so I'll be back later.
