Darn it!

Here's my vintage tag. I used an old card of darning wool that I found in my mother-in-law's workbasket which I kept when we cleared out my father-in law's house. I never got to meet her but as she loved doing creative things I'm sure we would have got on well. I liked the idea of darning as it's a thing that no-one does any more - we just go and buy a new pair of socks! So my tag has a sock in need of repair, all stitched back stitch using darning wool.

  2. Such a fun tag. I had the same thoughts on darning when we cleared Dad's house - I kept my Mum's darning "mushroom".

p.s. in my sewing basket I have a small collection of wooden darning mushrooms (I call them mushrooms due to their shape), and I learned how to darn using one of them when I was in the 'brownies' oh say, 50 plus years ago, and to this day I do darn a hole in a sweater that I love.
