Lace

My first thoughts on the subject of lace was to use some of my own handmade lace and a vintage bobbin, but as I didn't want to cut up my lace I had to come up with another idea. Rummaging in my trinket box, I came across this brooch of Queen Elizabeth 1, which I have had about 20 years- that was it, she was famous for her lace ruffs.
I made a tag from calico and bonded on lace. I made the lace 'ruff' by gathering up a length of lace and joining it into a circle. Velvet and pearls just had to be added as her costumes were so sumptuous. Her motto ( which means ever the same) was printed on the computer and stuck behind a velum tag that had been aged with distress ink.
I have decided to keep all my tags in a book, I have a postcard album that was my Grandmothers which I love to look through, hopefully in years to come, my little book will bring some pleasure to someone in the future.

  2. Love your tag, different, good to see a dark lace for a change and wonderfully embellished Liz. Great idea for your tag book. Will certainly make a wonderful heirloom. May do the same for my daughter.
