Snow Games - Skate

I can't believe I managed to get a tag done, but luckily it has been a quiet week here so managed to get out to my chaotic workroom for an hour and even use my sewing machine which has developed an alarming squeak from lack of use.

This is a very simple tag but the image popped into my head so just had to be done. I did the tag on a piece of white felt which I added some distress ink too, but I think it disappeared when I started to sew. I made up a small piece from angelina fibres for the pond, then just grabbed a couple of grey threads, a bit of white, silver and a black and started stitching. I would liked to have done the little figure in brush strokes but couldn't find a medium that would go over the angelina and stitching so used embroidery floss and a few simple stitches instead. Finished off with a little twinkle H2O's for a slither of moon and highlights but don't think they show up in the pic, and a bit of weathered wood distress ink around the edges. I attached the felt to a tag cut from mixed media paper using vliesofix.

Loved all the snow tags, what an amazing variety of techniques and materials and pure talent!

  5. Wonderful mixed media. Those machine stitched lines are just like the marks a skater would leave or tracks in the snow ... your tag is gorgeous!

  7. I love it too - especially the trees and shading below them, and I'm sure a little painted figure would have been good but I'm glad you stitched it!
I've had lots of H2O's for some years but have never had much success with them - must try again. Connie.

  15. This tag looks simple, but there is so much stitching in it, I think it is quite complicated ! Great idea and beautifully stitched.

  18. Great tag, Tracy - the stitching is fantastic, and the stitched figure really complements the whole scene. Much better choice it would seem than a painted image...
