snow games

"Snow Balls"
The background for this tag is a picture of the ice on our neighbors outdoor skating rink. I added lace along the right edge and then a couple of snowflake stickers and some adhesive gems. Next, I attached a piece of a Christmas ornament that I took apart.(It's not really a snow flake~if you look closely you'll see acorns on the end of some of the leaves). I fixed this to the tag with a pearl brad. I followed up by adding adhesive pearls and gems. I finished it up by adding some "snowballs" which are larger pearl beads surrounded by other beads hanging down from icy blue thread.

"Hanging On"
I saw a darling vintage looking photo on the web but it wasn't royalty free... so, I did a painting similar to it. I just love the idea of a little child holding on for dear life and trying not to fall!

"Skating"
This tag didn't photograph very well. I made a little skating dress/costume out of ribbon and tulle and added a little glitter on the tulle. Then I freehanded the word "skating" and a few flourishes (which you can't see very well) with a glue pen and then covered it with black glitter to match the edge of the tulle skirt.

"Snowman"
I painted the background of this tag with a light blue pearl paint and then lightened it by wiping it off with a baby wipe. I did a similar layer with silver pearl paint. Next, I put white distressed paint over the paint. I glued on 3 different size glass gems, made a little flocked back hat, painted on buttons, eyes, a nose and mouth, glued on a "scarf" of yarn, and arms (twigs from big leaves) and finished it up by putting some glass micro beads and tinsel glitter on the bottom for snow.

  14. Wow, so many tags! Snow Balls is so atmospheric and wintery, gorgeous. Lovely painting in Hanging On. I like the idea of making a skating dress in Skating with glitter and tulle. Snowman is very effective, good techniques. I had better get on with my tag, but it is so interesting looking at everyone else's!
