SCROLL |
The title this week really got me thinking - my favourite book - usually the one I'm reading at the time..... but so many more besides; too numerous to even begin to list. Then I started to think about books, the joy they bring into our lives; sizes, quality, hard or paperback, the dust covers, the print face, photographs, drawings - this led me to worry about the latest craze. E-books - I would so hate it if future generations lost the 'feel and handle' of a real book. I then thought about the origins of recording the written word; stone tablets, papyrus and scrolls. Therefore my tribute to books is my scroll - card stock of oriental letters, distressed by burning, painted vilene and beads from a belt found in a charity shop with the 'plastic leather' thongs. Being able to read is a gift and I admire all the special people that help those with dyslexia and other difficulties, to achieve this goal. Read, read, read.
Clever idea! And you are right-- ebooks are kind of scary!
ReplyDeleteI love your idea for this weeks theme and I agree totally with your thoughts on E books you can't replace the look and feel of a real book.
ReplyDeleteA very original idea - I love the 'ancient' look of your tag - and I also agree with your comments on e-books - there's nothing like choosing a book with a beautiful cover and enjoying that every time you pick the book up - can't do that with a kindle.
ReplyDeleteFabulous idea! Just love it May x x
ReplyDeleteI love your tag.... what a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI am totally in the book corner.
The look, feel and smell of them for a start - you just can't love a Kindle like you do a favourite book.
Long live the paper book. I cant see it disappearing there are too many of us book freaks around. Great tag Gilli
