Lace: The Wedding of Marie Antoinette

This complete tag is actually several tags that I created and assembled into one piece, shown
in the first picture.

The first tag is a tiny plexiglass tag backed with a lace piece that encloses the coat of arms of Louis XVI and a piece of lace that I antiqued with tea.
The second tag is a picture of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette that I printed, antiqued and bordered with a silver jewel embellished lace.
The third tag is a "calling card" belonging to Marie Antoinette drawn on vellum, detailed with a scroll, and her full list of names and bordered with a very soft lace antiqued with coffee.
The fourth tag of a note written by Marie Antoinette on a piece of vellum with a cutout in the shape of a sun (the sign of Louis XIV, the sun king who built the Palace of Versailles) with punched holes to create a lace like hole so that the next tag would show through.
The fifth tag is a lace bordered photo of a piece of the palace of Versailles where Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI lived until the French revolution caught up with them.
The last tag is my rendition of Antoinette's wedding dress as described on the fourth tag, satin , lace and cloth of gold I show it with the train and without the train. The next picture shows the lace and roses created from lace adorning her dress.
The close up shows my rendition of her famous pearl necklace, created with silver wire curled into lace with diamond embellishments. My tags are complex because I love to create a story with them but I promise that my next tag will be very simple.

  2. Oh, by the way, it's no coincidence that Marie Antoinette's dress is on a headless form - that is my weird sense of humor..
