Poetry: Not Your Basic Hearts and Flowers
Perhaps it is because we have been focused on hearts and flowers for several weeks...
Perhaps it is because I have not been feeling well this week and my mood was dark...
Perhaps it is because this truly is my favorite poem...
For your consideration, I present -
The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe.
The poem is written in its entirety on the distressed walls and the hand painted portrait of Virginia Clemm Poe hangs as Lenore. The quaint and curious book of forgotten lore lies abandoned on his secretary as the bust of Pallas Athena watches from above the open chamber door. Feel the eerie dominance of the Raven as he qouth, "Nevermore."

Martham: this tag is spectacular! For the next Halloween issue of Somerset Studio (just add a dot com at the end for their site) magazine, Poe is the inspiration. They have a call for submissions now which ends April 15,2012. You could submit this tag as is right away! Or, be inspired to create more things Poe related! I love this tag to bits, bits, bits! *smiles* Norma

ReplyDeleteThis is a brilliant tag! Lots of thought and hard work have gone into it.It is a great poem isn't it? Very imaginative interpretation. My favourite bit is the writing on the walls, but the raven is pretty cool too!I wonder if everyone will turn away from hearts and flowers and towards the dark side now.
ReplyDeleteGreat job-- I'm a "Raven" fan too. And Norma is right-- you should think about sending it to Somerset. What a great suggestion!!
