Blue Ribbon

We may live without poetry, music and art;
We may live without conscience, and live without heart;
We may live without friends; we may live without books
But civilized man cannot live without cooks.  - Lord Lytton
This was in the forward of an old Blue Ribbon Cook Book I thrifted years ago. It is so well used there is obvious "batter splatter" on well used pages LOL.
Most of my tag is "original" materials so looking pretty vintage. A page from the cookbook as well as the Baking Powder ad. The stamps in the background were collected to "trade" for items with vendors (you needed a gazillion I think to get anything).  The lady was originally part of a black and white advertisement from an old women's magazine. I used yellow acrylic paint to create a nice transfer. You can read about the technique I used here
I added inking to help bring in more colour. Enjoying everyone's tags - you are ALL so creative - I especially enjoy the stories that you include - wonderful. Cheers. Jewels

  1. Lovely tag! I still have the cookery book that came with my first stove waaaaaaaaay back in 1968, full of 'batter-splatter' as you called it and other undefinable stains! Valerie
