sewing

IF I COULD SEW, I'D BE DANGEROUS!

I've often been known to say, "IF I could sew, I'd be dangerous!"
While my interests are many and varied, I've never learned to do more than thread a needle. I know that sewing would open many doors but patience is not a virtue that I have and so, I've never taken the time or energy to learn to sew. This made this week's challenge...well, challenging. After all,how do you express something artistically that you have absolutely no interest in? Sew, er... I mean So, I thought of what I think of when I hear "sew". The Sound of Music! Doesn't everyone think of that? One of the few songs I ever learned to play on the piano was "When you know the notes to sing, you can sing most anything!" Which of course has the line, "So, a needle pulling thread". And, that is what my tag is. I tried to replicate the grammar school chalk board of my youth, with the musical lines (or whatever they're called) staff and notes. On the "So", I put a large chipboard note that I actually sewed on the card (really! by myself!). On the note I wrote, "Sew, a needle pulling thread" and used the needle as the "L" in the word needle. I find it almost appropriate that the one who doesn't really like or know how to sew has a tag that didn't turn out they way she wanted. I guess I really just don't want anything to do with sewing! (Or I'm totally jealous of those of you who are so incredibly talented!)
Wishing you all a wonderful creative week!
Mary Ann

  1. Very cute tag! Nifty idea! And if you ever try sewing, take my mom's advice: don't think of the whole pattern. Just follow each step (on the instructions) at a time. It really helps!

  4. Oh me too, me too! I don't do fabric and thread. Give me paper and glue instead! I've no patience either! I love Sound of Music too! It's a lovely tag!
