What a fantastic array of bunting to look at this week! I wish we could see more home-made bunting on the streets, that
plastic stuff is so tacky; but its good to see some patriotism wherever you go.
tags for May |
For some reason I got carried away on a Beatrix Potter theme
during the month of May. I couldn’t
think of a story that included bunting, but I did find this - the frontispiece
from The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies - first edition (1909). This presentation
book was inscribed by Potter with: "for Lizzie Airey from Miss Potter
Third book about the rabbits - April 27. 12". (just over 100 years ago). Sounds like a good reason to celebrate with
some bunting!
I used the same patchwork print fabric as for 2 of my other May tags,
stitched onto buckram, then stuck on the inscription. Made bunting from pink satin stitched onto
pink thread, with pink ric-rac for a tie.
From the beginning of Tag Tuesday I have been making a stitched book to
keep my tags together. I wanted a
flexible design to allow for tags of different sizes; also some are much thicker
than others; some will not fit in a book at all. My gardening tags are at the allotment, so I have stuck in a photo. Each double page has a folded pocket at the
bottom and is stitched on one side to the previous page. The book measures 10” square and is made to
fit a cardboard craft box. The box is
big enough for one more month, then I will start another book for July to December.
I’m ready now for some red, white and blue for next week! I’m looking forward to doing tags in June,
great themes, Carolyn!
Wishing you all a lovely holiday weekend, Jane xx
This really is one of the prettiest tags - I love the pale pink bunting - the whole tag is so delicate. And what a brilliant idea for storing your tags - I wish I'd thought of that but mine are all glued in a sketch book now.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Tag, I love all things Beatrix Potter. Great idea with the book, too! Valerie
ReplyDeleteGreat tag, I have loved your theme, and this one is very pretty. Love your book, mine are in a large sketch book but it's getting a challenge to close! x
ReplyDeleteJane, I love your pretty little tag, and what a great way to display them all together :)

A very pretty tag, and a great idea for storing your tags too. I have put mine in a spiral bound book, and I have used too many dimensional bits on my tags and the book wont close properly - a lesson learnt.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty tag, Jane. It's a different take on the tag theme. Beatrix Potter is very English, so a good idea to use her for this tag.
