Sea Birds

Hello everyone, I have to say I love the sound of the waves on the blog. At first I was a little disconcerted thinking there was a problem with my computer. LOL. But I love the sound of waves lapping on the shore. I had a crazy time last week (it was soooo hot and humid) and I just melt. A jump in a lake would be nice! I got the Swimming tag done today as well and thought I would share it with you here and then I am caught up!

I found the background picture in a magazine, and the blue heron in a vintage golden guide Birds book. I used some basic grey fibers and a bit of Making Memories ribbon on the bottom. I printed the following poem on a transparency and adhered it over top. Easy Peasy!

As I wandered on the beach
I saw the heron standing
Sunk in the tattered wings
He wore as a hunchback’s coat.
Shadow without a shadow,
Hung on invisible wires
From the top of a canvas day,
What scissors cut him out?
Superimposed on a poster
Of summer by the strand
Of a long-decayed resort,
Poised in the dusty light
Some fifteen summers ago;
I wondered, an empty child,
“Heron, whose ghost are you?”  Carolyn Kizer

Swimming:

I found these geisha beauties online and thought they were awesome bathing beauties. I put their image onto a page from a  book  of the Carribean and added text from a vintage Bobbsey Twins book. I added basic grey fiber and outlind words with a bit of charcoal, and that was that!

Absolutely wonderful tags posted here and I hope to visit soon and leave comments, till then,,,,,,
Beautiful work, everyone. Your talent is amazing. Your support is incredible. Your online friendsip is truly a work of art!

Big hugs to all,
Ivy

  1. I love the idea of the text over the Heron picture (one to remember) :) The geisha's don't look thrilled to be there do they, haha :0)

  12. Both tags turned out really well. Love the layers of the first one and the image of the geishas is great. Somehow until I saw that image I could never really imagine geishas in swimming costumes, lol. They kinda look as if they can't quite believe it themselves either, tehehe.

  14. Ivy, I love so much about the heron tag. That poem is very moving, it does look lonely, and layering it over the photos is a great idea. Aren't the bathing beauties different, what an unusual picture.
