I have chosen to illustrate Bergamot this week. This is a beautiful essential oil, distilled from the Bergamot orange Citrus bergamia and named after the Italian city of Bergamo in Lombardy, where the oil was first sold. It is a wonderful uplifting oil with a fruity and sweet scent that has a spicy floral quality. It is especially good for stress related conditions and depression, has a superb antiseptic effect on urinary tract infections and cystitis, skin problems, postnatal depression and colds and flu. It is widely used in the perfumary and toilet industry and was the main ingredient for the classic 4711 Eau-de-cologne fragrance. It is also used to flavour Earl Grey Tea. So here is the tag I put together:
I first coloured the base of the tag with Squeezed Lemonade distress ink and cut out the wrapping from a lovely bar of Italian Bergamot soap I received. Then the letter B, a water-coloured teacup and saucer and the words Earl Grey with a photograph of half a bergamot orange. The gentleman encased in a tea-bag shape perspex tag is from a box of Earl Grey Tea, I thought he added a touch of sobriety to a very bright tag! I shall now go and enjoy all your lovely 'B's, have a good week everyone, keep warm! x
Lovely tag this week - so bright and I love the vintage advertising - I tried growing Bergamot in my herb garden but it didn't do terribly well - it is such a pretty plant though.
