E ( Eucalypt) tag |
E is for Eucalypt - essentially Australian tree (gum tree), although I am sure many of you have seen some of the 700+ eucalypt species in many different countries. I love the beautiful distinctive shapes of gum leaves, and often pick up leaves from the ground during walks around the neighbourhood. Gum leaves are well known not only because of they are the source of valued eucalyptus oil, but because they are the food of koalas ( and some possums). Although gum leaves are not usually bright orange, I recently picked up some which were various shades of yellow/orange/red and these inspired this week's tag. On some cotton fabric,
I "sun printed " some leaves and a letter E and used permanent marker and alcohol to make the leaf markings. I then cut one leaf out and applied it raised from the surface of the background fabric with another leaf and the 'E" print.

And thanks again for all your comments and interest in the alphabet of Australian plants, and congratulations to Pat - your image is stunning and makes a perfect header for this wonderful blog.
Wilma this is a treasure. That orange is happy and bright and hopeful. This is a beautiful work of art. It makes me happy inside just to look at it. Nice tag! *smiles* Norma, x

ReplyDeleteReminds me of a children's book I've had since I was a kid-- Kobo the koala who lives in a gum tree. Very pretty tag!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea koalas ate eucalyptus. I love this tree too. I first encountered it in Cyprus and now have planted my own in the UK (poor Eucalyptus it shivers a bit!) Your vibrant tag is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love all the different shades of orange in your tag. Blessings!
