Roaring Twenties

It was such a shame that the gorgeous art and excess of the Roaring Twenties was followed by the crash and horrific poverty of the 30s.

It was a sacrifice but I steered away from the Art Deco architecture. I love flappers and flapper fashion but I also admire the sophisticated lines of the men's clothing of this period.
I took paper from my stash that resembled the pin striping of a very good man's suit and then used my sewing machine to add a waistband, a pocket and a belt loop, creating the impression of pants. Next, I drew a head and shoulders picture of a flapper with the Cupid's bow mouth so admired during the 20s, and embellished her bob and dress with green crystals. I inserted the picture into a Tim Holtz watch case and attached that to a chain from an old necklace. I affixed the chain to the pants exactly as if it were a pocket watch.

  5. What an inventive and awesome tag! Love every detail! I smiled when I thought that this man's watch could have had the clock on one side and his sweetie on the other.
