Complementary Colors

Blue and Orange were the complementary colors I chose for my tag challenge this week.  I found a vintage image of twin girls and colored their respective dresses with blue and orange.  One of my favorite ways to alter photos is with Prismacolor colored pencils--the waxiness of the pencils works great on matte photo paper, and is workable for blending. I gave them each a complementary-colored butterfly to hold, and found the perfect larger butterfly which merged the two colors, to place at the top of the tag.  I bent the wings up for some dimension.

The hardest part of making this tag was carefully cutting around the girls' thumbs with an Xacto knife, so the butterflies could be tucked underneath--definitely a challenge on the thick paper stock!

I must apologize that I got very behind in commenting on your posts for 'Weddings' last week, but please know that I thought they were all so beautiful.  This is a very creative bunch of contributors, and it's so much fun to see how differently the themes are interpreted!  Thanks for your gracious comments, and I will be better about adding mine to your posts this week!
