Autumn

I have been trying new techniques. For autumn, I wanted to make a piece that clearly showed Fall leaves in some brilliant colors but I also wanted them to be transparent. I first tried making gels but they didn't give me the level of transparency that I wanted. Next, I painted different Fall colors on a piece of a clear overhead transparency. I didn't get the depth of color that I wanted, but I did get the transparency I wanted of the leaves. After the alcohol ink dried, I cut out leaves, drew lines on them, and then I laminated them. Last, I cut the leaves out in the size and shape of a tag and hung it from clear fishing line. To photograph it, I had to put a sheet of white paper behind it. It didn't match what I pictured in my mind but it was an interesting experiment and it looks pretty cool hanging from the big branch in my studio where I hang my tags.

  1. Cool! They have kind of a retro look, and the way the colors overlap is marvelous. Blessings!
