I grew up listening to Chinese folk stories about crickets, and have had a long fascination with cricket cages, so the insect I chose for this week's theme was obvious. I have never kept a cricket in any of the cages I own, but have used them for props for dolls I make. My tag this week is a computer manipulated photo of one of those dolls - pencil sketch with Ribbet Photo Editor. Then I wrote the word "cricket" in Chinese characters and drew a little cricket, outside the cage. This is such a simple tag, but I enjoyed making it. Here is the original photo of my doll (cloth and polymer clay)- before digital editing.
Wilma this is simply lovely! what a creative idea to manipulate the photo and use it for your tag. the end result is something truly special. i love seeing the doll that inspired this as well. xo

ReplyDeleteLovely tag, and your story brought back memories of a favorite book about a little Japanese girl, Keiko, who got a cricket cage. The sound of crickets is almost instant Zen for me. Thanks for putting a smile on my face this morning!
