Africa

Such a lot of beautiful tags already this week - I'm very impressed! Thank you for the kind comments on my Eggs tag last week, they are very much appreciated.
This week I used my Inktense watercolour pencils and created a Djembe drum.
I play in a local group with some incredibly talented & inspiring women. The Djembe is a rope-tuned, skin-covered goblet drum played with bare hands originally from West Africa. According to the Bamana people in Mali, the name of the djembe comes from the saying, "Anke djé, anke bé" which tranlates to, "everyone gather together in peace", and defines the drums purpose.

  9. Great tag, and so neat that you play in a group! My husband, a composer, often uses djembe in his pieces.
