Hearth and Home

Hi Everybody!

We have reached the last month of the year, and this time our challenge will run for a whole month, with a fresh start  and a new challenge at the beginning of January. Today our lovely and talented Wilma is hosting, so over to her and her wonderful, homely tags:

It's December! I chose the theme "Hearth and Home" because I have always liked the Christmas card images of a warm welcoming fire with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree  in a cosy living room. So different from the real life experience of Christmas in summer in Australia! I made two tags with the same background and with a  photocopied window cut out, coloured with water-colour pencils.  ( I used to own a stamp like this, but couldn't find it when I needed it today)  Through the window cut out on the first tag, I made a simple collage from two magazine pages. It looked rather dull, not welcoming at all, so I added a simple paper bunting to give it a more festive look. I sealed everything with matte gel medium and cold wax to create a more vintage look. The "Home for Christmas" was added digitally.

The second tag was inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson story, The Little Match Girl . A sad but beautiful seasonal story which always reminds me how fortunate we are to have a home to welcome family and friends.    The approach was exactly the same as the first one, with a magazine page placed behind the window cut out. I drew the girl with pen and water-colours and cut the drawing out and placed it over the top of the cut out. The stars and text were added digitally.
I wish all Tag Tuesday followers and the Design Team a season of peace and joy with people you love. And to all who celebrate Christmas - Merry Christmas.

I am sure Wilma's beautiful tags will inspire you to create something beautiful for this festive season. Thanks to all who entered our last challenge.
Enjoy the  season!

Valerie
