Lace, and how to put it on

Just scraping in with this week's theme :o)

Last week I bought a HUGE stack of
'old' postcards from Oxfam.
Mainly 1960's-70's, some older, some more modern.
Among them was this solemn lace making lady.
What a coincidence!

I cut the postcard into a tag shape
and having used clear gesso to seal
 the very porous looking card,
used my ancient Twinkling H20's to paint
around the lady.
I very lightly tinted her face and hands with chalk,
and stamped a curling leaf pattern randomly behind her.
The tag is edged with gold acrylic paint.

I found the words
'Lace, and how to put it on'
in an old needlework book.

The lacey lady seems to be telling us
how we should wear our lace.

Joylessly.

  5. What a great find that was ... a whole heap of old postcards ... wow! Love what you've done with her. Perhaps she has so much lace that she is joylessly blase about the lace collection that we would die for ♥

  6. Great image Joanna. The background color and simple outline shape of the tag itself all combine into a lovely visual. Nice touches of gold. Like this a lot! *smiles* Norma

  9. What a great story your tag tells - the lacemaker definitely looks as if she is instructing us all.
