Whenever the 'Rainy Day 'theme came into my head
I kept hearing the Nursery Rhyme:
I hear thunder.....I hear thunder
Hark don't you? ...Hark don't you?
Pitter, patter rain drops
Pitter, patter rain drops
I'm wet through; So are you.
To a cream fabric base I added a piece of hand dyed cotton in shades of blue and lilac.
It has a watery effect on it but it was difficult to capture it with the camera.
I used fabric scraps to appliqué the Wellington boots and umbrella, over which I free~machine embroidered a rain effect with iridescent machine thread, then stitched the words in the spaces with the sewing machine.
Oh the oval stitched puddle was done before stitching on the red Wellington boots.
A length of musical ribbon for a tie at the top to finish.

This is a combination of something I made earlier,
an embroidered leaf stitched on soluble fabric using machine silks and wire.
the wire makes it bendable, so you can crumple it up like a real leaf.

I wrapped the excess wires together with brown satin ribbon to form a hanging loop and added a dangle of linen thread which was threaded with a selection of crystal beads in autumn colours.
I stitched a little dyed scrap with the word 'Autumn'.
