I love rusty stuff. I love the colors and the layers. For my tag, I wanted to try to recreate rust using special effects on paper. I took five layers of paper: gray, white wallpaper, corrugated paper, a piece of brownish waxed paper, and a suede like burnt orange colored paper. I layered them and then tore into them, creating a hole. Once I had the hole. I tore little pieces out of the different layers, shredding some of them. Next, I took fine grit sandpaper and sanded down through the layers that I had made. I used the Tim Holtz distressing products and a bright orange paint to color the layers, being careful to keep the gradations appropriate. To finish the rust, I added some Martha Stewart embossing particles. The holder is a circle of copper wire. I added the little plaque that says 'live in the moment' at the bottom as a reminder that, "we art rust and unto rust we shall return..."

Martham I have never seen this done before. What a fab technique. It looks so real - like you could actually hurt yourself on the decaying metal. Love it.
