Hi everyone, great set of tags last week, I did enjoy them and this weeks are looking marvelous too. Such a lot I am learning!
D is for Dill in my continuing roam through esssential oils and herbs. The herb is used for pickling and flavouring soups and sauces. It is a dark green feathery plant that has a herby almost grass-like aroma. It is helpful when feeling over-whelmed and may also be of use in times of crisis or shock. It promotes the healing of wounds and is especially good for easing flatulence and constipation. It is very good for bad breath and the easing of hiccups and it is said to promote the flow of milk for nursing mothers. Dillwater - made from the fresh herb and not the essential oil which is too powerful for infants - is the well known constituent of Gripe water which my young grandson found soothing in the first few months of his life. It was also thought that a bunch of Dill hung over the door kept Witches at bay!
I covered my tag with an old advert for Gripe Water which I distressed around the edges. Then I added the wooden D, a dictionary definition for Dill and then antiqued a frame with embossing powder for the image of Dill leaves. Then I found a bottle and a spoon image on some paper I have had stored for ages and fussy cut them out to give the cross looking baby a spoonful of gripe water!
I'm off to cook dinner now and hope it doesn't give me indigestion as I have no dillwater to hand and then will be back to look at your fabulous tags. Have a good week everyone. x
Lovely collage tag - that advert is so perfect and I love the little frame. Dill is one of my favourite herbs too. :o)
