Letter W ...

... is for wicker, which is where I started with this tag, although it ended up being more about picnics and flowers!

Last weekend, we spent a few idyllic days visiting family who live on a farm in Northern Ireland. The sun shone for us every single day - even in Donegal, which apparently is a minor miracle! - and among many other wonderful memories will be the picnic we shared with my Aunt and Uncle, surrounded by blue skies, green grass and flowers ... this tag is to remember that happy day :o)

This tag didn't turn out as I intended at all - it was going to be just wicker tied with string and two tiny flowers peeping out, but projects sometimes seem to have a mind of their own don't they?

The wicker effect was just hand drawn with black fineliner and coloured in with pencils. Then a couple of tiny blossoms were attached at the bottom right with brads, and that was supposed to be that ...

But then I just thought I'd put a piece of pp behind the wicker to hide the brads at the back, and as it turned out I liked the touch of gingham and then tucked a scrap of doily in as well and decided it was now a picnic basket. So I tore another piece from that poor, battered old dictionary - this time with a definition of the word "picnic".Then added a lot more flowers. I used DI in Scattered Straw and Walnut Stain to ink the edges, glued on the wooden letters and finished with garden twine.

I think half my head is still in Ireland in the sunshine ...

Thanks for looking at my W tag - can't wait to see what you've all come up with now! :o)
