Mother and Child

I visited Glastonbury last week and apart from walking in the grounds of the ruined Abbey I spent some hours in the Chalice Well Garden, one of my most favourite places on earth. The garden nestles in the Vale of Avalon underneath the Glastonbury Tor and is a peaceful sanctuary where you can sit and pray or meditate at any number of little seated areas, some of which have statues, one of which is the subject of my tag.

I painted the background of my tag green and then cut out a photograph of the Mother and Child statue that is tucked away in a lovely part of the garden. Then I framed it with some twigs from my garden and painted and punched out some leaves, finally using chit chat stickers for the title.
The Chalice Well is one of Britains most ancient holy wells and one of the legends attributed to it is that the waters represent the blood of Christ miraculously springing forth from the ground when Joseph of Arimathea buried or washed the cup used at the Last Supper. I hope you like the  photo and that it gives you a small taste of the peace and tranquility that you can find there.
Have a peaceful week everyone. x
