Text

Happy Tag Tuesday lovelies! I was pretty sure that with a "text" theme, I would be sticking some paper in my typewriter and having a go that way. But, art can have its own mind. As it happens, I was listing items in our Etsy shop, called VintagePostAndPaper. I'm not trying to advertise here, really, but as I was working on the shop, which is stocked with postmarked envelopes and postcards from the late 1800's to the early 20th century, I came upon one where the post date was really faded and it had no return address. So I decided to embroider on it.

After a while it became clear that this piece of vintage ephemera was going to turn into a tag, and what could have more text than an envelope containing a gossipy old letter from the 1920's. I love it. I just added a few words, inked the edges, and let it live that way.

Have a wonderful day everyone! It's snowy here in the Ozarks!

  3. What a clever interpretation of this week's theme. Using an actual old envelope and embroidering it is such a great idea.

  9. Great idea for your tag! It seems quite obvious to me that it needed embroidering! I love to mix stitch with other elements too.
