Frosted lace

You know how when you have an idea and it's in your mind but it won't travel down to your hand properly? Well this was one of those! I really wanted to capture the lace of a frozen spiders web for this weeks challenge, the weather didn't oblige so I couldn't photograph one, so I studied loads and loads of pictures. Then I tried in watercolour, hand embroidery, sakura pens and machine embroidery but it wasn't quite right. In the end I used a tiny nozzle on my glue bottle, shook white glitter and embossing powder over it, mades some thin threads with a silver pen and added some diamonte for extra sparkle (these don't show up too well in the photo). I added a die cut branch and a dried seed head from the garden and this was the best I could do.

There is some stunning work from all of you out there, I really enjoy perusing all the masterpieces. Later on today I shall be posting on my blog http://barbarascraftroom.blogspot.com/2012/01/januarys-tuesday-tags.html to show how I am storing this month's tags if anyone is interested? Have a great week everyone.

  2. Barb I think your tag is brilliant. It's perfect. You will probably enjoy it more as time passes. It is the 'mistakes' so to speak, that give the magic to a piece often. Your painting has been touched by the muse and that is a good thing.

  6. This tag has turned out very well. If you hadn't had all those experiments you wouldn't have come to this point! We learn by keeping on trying new things, and sometimes end up with unexpected results, this was well worthwhile.

  9. I love your tag Barb (great minds think alike lol) Your web has a real brittleness to it. I can imagine it cracking under my touch. A great technique
