"Throughout the cataclysmic events of the 17th century, the comings and goings of kings and protectors, the Gunpowder Plot, the Plague, the Great Fire of London, the tulip reigned, untoppled, on its flowery throne". Anna Pavord 'The Tulip'.
For me spring is tulips, although there are daffodils, hellebores, forsythia, blossoms....!!
Spring flowers are so uplifting, just as doing these little tags each week is stimulating.
I am so encouraged by all your lovely comments on my little stitched efforts, thank you.
Very best wishes, Valerie R.
Your embroidered tulip is fab Valerie, great little tag!
ReplyDeleteHi Yvonne, thanks for comments, I just loved your tag and you went to
Deleteso much trouble but worth the effort, just great.
Beautiful piece of work - did you know that tulips originated in Turkey and became a form of currency used by the traders in the Netherlands - hence tulips from Amsterdam! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Gilli, Many thanks for kind comments. Yes I did know about the
Deletetulips being native to Turkey through Anna Pavord's book, she
describes going up to the north and seeing fields of tulips growing wild!
Imagine, how wonderful is that. Best wishes, VR
